Her Eyes

The story of a young woman and her grandfather dying of Alzheimer’s disease. The multimedia short film was made to bring awareness to the Death with Dignity Act. In the United States, people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia are not eligible for medical aid in dying or the Death with Dignity Act. This is because people with dementia are often no longer considered mentally competent by the time they receive a terminal diagnosis and a six-month prognosis. Many attempt suicide as a means to retain their personalities and mental clarity before saying goodbye to their loved ones.
